Simon disconnected the cable from his patient’s skull, checked she was still unconscious, then turned to his screen. He navigated through the mind drive, bypassing memories, diving deeper, through the subconscious, past fears and shame, to his destination: fantasy.

The patient was beautiful. She surely harbored secret desires that would gratify Simon’s voyeurism. Simon selected her last fantasy, then watched it play on screen:

The woman’s eyes open.

She sees Simon.

Smiles.

Draws a blade.

Slits his throat.

Horrified by the violent images, Simon looked down at his patient.

Her eyes opened.

She smiled, then drew her blade.
