Like a Moth to a Flame

Lo gazed down at the Helix, allowing the wash of pale pearlescent color to streak across his eyeslots. Trillions of nanofilaments intertwined into an iridescent river of pure data that stretched as far as he could see.

All the knowledge in the universe flowed through the Helix. Its power was beyond intoxicating—it was all-consuming. Lo knew that if he entered the Helix, time would cease to exist. And so would he.

He didn’t care.

Lo fell forward, limbs outstretched to embrace the Helix’s ethereal glow. As he was atomized into shimmering vapor, one final word escaped his lips.

“More.”
