My horror drabble He Has His Father’s Eyes has been accepted into next month’s Dark Moments by Black Hare Press, for their Nephilim theme. It’s hard to believe, but this is my 100th acceptance since I started writing short fiction just 2 1/2 years ago. My very first acceptance was also a drabble with Black Hare Press (In the Water, in the Ancients anthology), so it’s fitting that my 100th is too.
My short horror story They Say Crows Can Remember Faces has been accepted by the Scare You To Sleep podcast. I recently discovered the show via their incredible production of Caleb Stephens’ You Have To Let Him Burn and it instantly became one of my favorite horror podcasts. This is also one of my favorite stories, so I can’t wait to hear what Shelby does with it.
My psychological horror novelette Make It A Double has been accepted by Dark Horses Magazine for their August 2022 issue. It’s a cautionary tale of the “be careful what you wish for” variety, about the unfortunate consequences of unchecked envy and greed.
My horror story Leftovers has been accepted by Teleport Magazine. It’s a story about an elderly woman whose son moved out and left her to fend for herself in a decaying, crime-ridden neighborhood. She’s not worried about the junkies and the gangsters though—there’s something far worse out there.
My post-apocalyptic horror comedy Wine List For The Apocalypse, Courtesy Of Your Olive Garden Sommelier has been selected for the longlist in the Bear Creek Gazette’s Apocalypse writing competition. Winners will be announced August 1st. 🤞
My flash fiction tale You Are Reading This Story joins a collection of other 2nd person point-of-view horror stories in the This Is Too Tense anthology by Bag of Bones Press. It’s a self-referential piece of metafiction about a writer trapped by his own words.
My historical horror story Breathtaking has been accepted by the Thirteen Horror Podcast. Set in 1930’s Oklahoma during the Dust Bowl, it’s the story of a girl who sees a mysterious, white-robed woman screaming outside in her yard during a raging dust storm.
My short horror story Feed the Worm has been accepted for publication in the Beautiful Darkness anthology by Dragon Soul Press. If you like stories about cosmic murder worms, this one’s for you!
My weird fiction story The Salt Circle has been accepted by The Literary Hatchet. It’s about a man who turns into a slug and his wife’s misguided attempt to keep him safe. This is probably the weirdest story I’ve ever written, so I’m thrilled that it actually found such a great home.
