Kaitlyn’s life was a Hallmark movie.

Fired from her dream job at New York’s biggest fashion magazine, she returned to her rural home town to start over. That’s how she reconnected with her high school crush, Ben, a ruggedly handsome carpenter who still lived nearby. She fell instantly back in love with him—it was like no time had passed at all.

“We’re soulmates,” Kaitlyn explained to Ben’s wife as she held her face-down in the lake. “We were meant to be.”

Then she returned to Ben’s house, slipped into his bed, and waited for him to come home.
